About this place
At Matsuno, you can shape the meal as you go: savour yakitori one skewer at a time, then add a small plate or something to finish. The skewers include wasabi-grilled chicken, chicken heart, negima, chicken neck, chicken wings and liver. One diner recalled enjoying several cuts in a seven-skewer omakase selection, and praised the charcoal aroma and cooking. The same diner added chicken skin after the skewers, then ordered chicken yukhoe gunkan. The menu works well whether you want to sample a range of cuts or order another of a favourite to round out the meal.
For a dish before the skewers, potato salad, yodare chicken and liver pâté are each listed at ¥480. The limited-quantity toro-kimo sashimi is ¥580, an option if you fancy something different from a skewer. Some diners have enjoyed ordering a dish while waiting for the skewers; others mention the care taken in grilling each one and the ramen at the end. For a leisurely meal centred on yakitori, small plates are an easy addition.
To finish, the menu offers shime ramen and fried rice balls. One diner said they enjoyed the ramen, making it a fitting end whether you have had just a few skewers or want a more substantial final course. Drinks include draft beer, highballs, lemon and tomato chūhai, as well as sake that changes daily. You can pair the skewers with a familiar favourite or ask the staff what sake is available that day.
